Day 9 –
After over a week on our diet, I am excited to announce that I have lost 3 pounds!
It has only been 4 days since I weighed myself, so its not actually a full week of weight loss, but its still a good number. I do have to admit that while I’m proud of losing 3 pounds, I am just a tiny bit disappointed. After years of watching shows like Biggest Loser with their incredibly unhealthy and unrealistic weight loss amounts I was really hoping for some dramatic double digit number, but life isn’t like a fake reality TV show and healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week so I am actually ahead of the curve.
Our biggest accomplishment so far was staying on the diet – both Peter and I have done really well without sneaking any unhealthy carbs. I think that is a big deal. And while I do look longingly at ads on TV with bread or chips, I honestly haven’t felt deprived.
Today I started my day with some coffee. It was already too hot by 9:00am to take Lexi on a walk (I won’t take her if it is over 90 degrees) so I did some housework, wrote my daily blog post and then a conference call for work. In the afternoon I headed over to the YMCA, where I decided to do a weigh in. I walked on the treadmill for 35 minutes and then did a few of the weight machines before finishing off with 10 minutes on one of the bicycles.
When I go home I made myself a salad with some feta cheese and a few bacon bits, and then I snacked on some almonds in the afternoon.
We had been talking about trying the Cauliflower Crust pizza so around 5:00 I texted Peter to see if he wanted to get pizza and he answered right away. It was our celebration date night after our first full week of Keto. The Pizza was so good, we honestly thought maybe there was a mistake and they had given us a regular crust by mistake. Cauliflower is the greatest! The crust was crunchy and wonderful. Only 3.6 carbs per slice! What a perfect way to celebrate and indulge, without actually going off our diet.
After such a positive first week and such a fun yummy celebration, we are both energized and ready to keep going!
This is so inspiring! Now I want to try that pizza!
ReplyDeleteOh you should Diane - it was so good, I was skeptical about it, but I really loved it. I actually like it better than regular crust. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.
