Day 18 –
I started my day with my usual coffee and then made myself some scrambled eggs, with some leftover bacon. I really do like to eat bacon and eggs, just not every morning. I did find a recipe for cauliflower toast, but I haven’t had a chance to try it yet.
After taking some time to write and share my blog I headed out to go volunteer at a voter registration event for the morning (#MakeAmericaSaneAgain 105 days until the midterm election! Every vote counts.)
Once I got home spent some time surfing through social media, and tried to give myself a reason to not go workout; I’m tired, I woke up really early, I’m sore, I just want a day off, I had a litany of excuses in my head, but I made myself go anyway.
I walked for almost 45 minutes on the treadmill and when I came home I was a sweaty mess, so Peter and I went swimming in our pool to cool off. I know that pushing myself to go to the YMCA even when I don’t feel like it, is going to get me back to the level of fitness where I want to be, but it is so hard. I really was looking for any excuse to stay home, but I am really glad I forced myself to get moving.
I snacked on some Crisps and then in the evening I made myself some shrimp and cauliflower rice, Peter made a steak, and I bugged him to make sure he also had a vegetable, so he steamed some broccoli, which he shared with me. It was so good.
I have a lot going on this week, but I am going to try to fit a trip to the YMCA in every single day if I can. It is supposed to be really hot, so I don’t think Lexi and I will be doing any walks this week, but we are dog-sitting a cute puppy for a friend so she will be busy playing with Diggity Dog.
This week's goal is to stay motivated to exercise and to stay on track with our diet.
I know, especially when it is hot! I bike every day rain or shine, cold or hot, but some days to fit it in I have to use the little train mantra!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit I am very grateful for an air conditioned YMCA to workout in.
DeleteI look for every excuse in the world last Friday tonight exercise, it was really telling to me to realize just how many excuses I have filled my life with over the last 10 years. I can look back now and seen so many missed opportunities to exercise because I just felt like I didn’t want to do it. It’s different now so I’m going from here
ReplyDeleteI agree Donna, it is always so easy to come up with an excuse, but once you get moving you always feel better.
DeleteIt can be a long journey, but I think your quote at the end says it all...just don't ever stop. Keep going forward, no matter how slowly!
ReplyDeleteThanks Candi, I appreciate the support & thanks for stopping by my blog.
