Our Keto Journey - Day 8

Day 8 –

I started my day meeting a friend at Starbucks and was pleased to discover that the Keto coffee recipe for Starbucks I had read online was actually pretty yummy. I ordered a regular coffee with two shots of sugar free vanilla syrup and real cream.

I will admit I was struggling with energy today, I think that infamous Keto flu is to blame.  I had read about it, and during this week I felt great except for a little occasional dizziness, but it is always hard to decipher if that is due to my diet or just one of the many joys of menopause.

I did a few errands and came home, where I had a big lunch of lettuce turkey wraps again, but today I added some avocado slices with the feta cheese. It was so good. I also had some cucumber.
Feeling creatively inspired I worked on a few writing projects and before I knew it, it after 4:00 and Peter had stopped at home to grab something to eat before heading back to work for the evening.  Peter made himself a steak and again I bugged him about adding veggies to his meals for healthy balance.

I snacked a little with a cheese stick, some beef jerky and then some almonds. I was a little hungrier today.  I decided to make myself a big plate of grilled broccoli and cauliflower, which I had tossed in some olive oil and spices with a bit of parmesan sprinkled on top. It was delicious and definitely filled me up.

The only negative for the day was that lack of energy I felt. I actually gave myself the day off from going to the YMCA. I think its okay to give yourself a break once in awhile.

Now to share way too much information for those who are thinking of doing the Keto diet and wondering how it will affect you, its time to talk poop. 💩 I was wondering if there would be any changes with this diet and I am happy to report that so far, I have not had any problems or issues.

Starting week two we are still on track and doing well. I hope I am losing weight, I can tell that Peter is.

  1. Sounds great! So does the food - a lot different from a low carb diet I remember from long ago. Hoping one of the websites that discusses the keto flu has the right answer for you. Alana ramblinwitham.blogspot.com

    1. Thanks Leah - it was good, and the fact that we are allowed to have cheese on this diet is excellent because in my opinion cheese makes everything better. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
